Ridge supports inclusive downhill mountain bike race

14 February 2023

Ridge is proudly supporting MTB4ALL, a new race series set to make mountain bike racing more accessible.

Taking place on 25th and 26th March at the Nevis Range, in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, the aim of the event is to establish a well-known race series year after year, encouraging more participants, especially those who wouldn’t normally race mountain bikes, to get involved and create an enjoyable experience for everyone.

The race series is raising money for charities that support spinal cord research and recovery. Our involvement stems from our partnership with rider Casey Gemma who in 2021 became paralyzed after a mountain bike accident. Having broken her spine, Casey has spent the last two years undergoing gruelling rehabilitation and adapting to her new life in a wheelchair. Despite this, her positivity and ambition to get riding again has seen her take part in downhill races on an adaptive mountain bike.

During our 75th birthday celebrations in 2021, Ridge colleagues took part in cycling events to raise money to support Casey’s rehabilitation: a 75KM ride and 75 mountain bike descents (which ended up being over 100) – raising enough money to purchase an adaptive mountain bike.

We are proud to have been supporting this year’s MTB4ALL initiative from the beginning. We have volunteered time to get the race off the ground, have provided design support to create its eye-catching logo, and already have colleagues signed up to take part.

Now, the race is open for anyone to get involved.
