This ambitious public realm project in Plymouth, delivered in partnership with Morgan Sindall and Plymouth City Council, was recognised for both its infrastructure excellence and collaborative approach. Ridge provided Civil Engineering services, contributing to the wider regeneration of Plymouth’s city centre.
Our work forms part of a broader strategy to enhance accessibility, sustainability and heritage across key public spaces, including Civic Square and Armada Way – one of the UKs largest public realm regeneration schemes. From designing sustainable drainage systems using rain gardens and reed beds, to improving mobility through kerb and pavement redesign, we helped shape safer, greener and more inclusive environments. The project was recognised for navigating complex site conditions while preserving the city’s heritage.
The Crescent Centre, a 1970s office building in central Bristol, has been transformed into a modern, energy-efficient workplace. Ridge delivered Civil and Structural Engineering and technical design services for the refurbishment and extension, which included a new double-height glazed entrance and an additional rooftop floor with a terrace.
Working within a conservation area and alongside heritage assets, our team developed practical solutions that respected the building’s character while meeting modern standards. The project significantly improved accessibility, increased cycle parking, and enhanced energy performance – all while minimising waste and preserving mature trees on site.
These awards reflect Ridge’s commitment to delivering engineering solutions that are not only technically robust but also responsive to place, people and purpose.
