James has significant experience in the design and construction of high and low rise residential, commercial and industrial buildings. More recently he has focused on the non-traditional and high-rise sector and large panel system buildings. James has expertise in design management and adds value throughout the design and construction process.

Sam is an architecturally trained Chartered Structural Engineer with over 20 years of professional experience.

Sam leads our Bristol Structural and Civil Engineering team, working with planners and main contractors to offer a full spectrum of structures and civils services, including engineering, design and risk management. He is an experienced leader, having delivered complex multi-disciplinary projects and managed diverse, specialist engineering and consultancy teams, with a strong collaborative, inclusive and team-based ethos.

Sam has a raft of experience in the design of buildings and infrastructure projects in the public and private sectors. His portfolio includes the design of new build and complex refurbishment projects ranging in value between £50,000 to £250 million, with specific experience in the education, healthcare, sports, retail, commercial, industrial, and residential markets.

Carl is Chartered member of both the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Institution of Structural Engineers and has extensive project management, framework and engineering experience. Carl has developed a wide range of skills from delivering projects across many sectors including education, residential, retail, leisure, logistics, manufacturing and commercial.

Carl understands that open and clear communication with clients and all stakeholders is key to ensure the needs and wants of every client are met and realised, delivering value in a timely and cost-effective manner. Leading the civil and structural engineering team in Birmingham Carl instils these values into the team to deliver on current and future projects.

Nick has over 15 years’ experience on a mix of both design and site supervision works, and has developed a broad set of skills and experience developed from working on a wide range of residential, educational, retail, healthcare, sports and civil engineering work ranging in project value from £1M to £50M.

Nick is conversant with a wide variety of materials and design techniques and has experience in design and drawing software packages such as RAM, STAAD, TEDDS, TEKLA, REVIT and AutoCAD.

Chartered Engineer (MEng CEng MIStructE) with 23 years’ experience. James has been involved in the design of many prestigious projects, working with high-profile architects and clients both in the UK and overseas. He has led multi-disciplinary design teams and very much enjoys collaborating with project stakeholders. Having spent several years working in-house at an architecture firm, James has a good appreciation of holistic building design and understands the value of providing clear engineering input from the very start of a project. James is always keen to push the boundaries and has a keen interest in offsite construction systems and sustainable design solutions.

Bobby Brown is Head of Water at Ridge, leading the growth of the firm’s presence in the water and wider infrastructure sectors.

With over 20 years of experience, Bobby began his career in water and flood & coastal engineering, working on complex infrastructure such as breakwaters, seawalls and dams. He went on to hold senior roles at Black & Veatch and Turner & Townsend, where he led large multidisciplinary teams, built major client accounts, and delivered high-value capital programmes for the Environment Agency, Thames Water and the Pennon Group.

Bobby has a proven track record in securing and delivering long-term frameworks, building high-performing teams, and aligning technical delivery with strategic client goals. He is also a member of British Water and has served on national sector leadership groups.

Marcus is a Chartered Structural Engineer with over 28 years of experience in civil and structural engineering across high rise residential, commercial, education and healthcare sectors. He specialises in delivering practical, cost-effective solutions while managing budget and programme constraints. Marcus has extensive experience in tall building design, having contributed to multiple projects across the UK. His technical expertise and collaborative approach enable him to resolve complex engineering challenges and deliver successful project outcomes.

Brendan is a Chartered Water Manager with over 25 years’ experience delivering civil engineering infrastructure projects across the UK in both public and private sectors. At Ridge, he specialises in flood risk management, leading projects involving hydrological and hydraulic modelling, sustainable drainage systems, flood resilient design, river restoration, and property due diligence.

Brendan applies his deep technical knowledge to unlock complex development sites affected by flood risk, helping bring underutilised land into viable use. He works closely with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, sustainable developments that balance environmental resilience with commercial viability.
