The development site acquired by Jaguar Land Rover adjacent to their Castle Bromwich Production Site was formerly a cinema. This had been demolished and the site subsequently used as a temporary car park for employees.
The new car park increases the existing parking capacity for employees in a location immediately adjacent to the plant. The existing surface car park was remodeled to increase the capacity on the site to 2,000 employee parking spaces in both surface parking and within the multi-storey car park.
This development also sees a significant increase in the ‘Car Share’ provision and includes spaces for electric vehicle charging, with the infrastructure to expand this provision.
The car park structure consists of steel frame supporting pre-cast concrete slabs on piled foundations and was constructed in two phases in line with JLR’s requirements.
A new significant surface water drainage strategy was designed to suit local authority planning requirements. Buried attenuation tanks and petrol interceptors to the east of the site ensure outfall flows are managed to suit the local drainage infrastructure.
A new road junction on Kingsbury Road (A38) was also constructed under a Section 278 Agreement to coincide with project completion.
