From apprenticeships to university graduates, we’re pleased to recognise the achievements of three individuals whose recent successes reflect dedication, capability, and potential.
Finalist, Young Apprentice of the Year at Building the Future Construction Awards
Olivia, Assistant Quantity Surveyor, has been named a finalist for the prestigious Young Apprentice of the Year award – a testament to her hard work, growth, and commitment to learning.
“Being recognised alongside such talented individuals is a huge honour. This journey has been full of learning, growth, and hands-on experience. I’m incredibly grateful for the support from my mentors and colleagues at Ridge.”
We’re excited to see Olivia continue to thrive and make her mark in the industry.
Outstanding Level 6 Building Surveying Student at Liverpool John Moores University
Andy, Building Surveyor and former electrician, returned to education at 31 determined to change careers. His efforts paid off – not only did he graduate top of his class, but he also won Outstanding Level 5 and Level 6 Building Surveying Student.
“I was told at school not to go to university because I’d struggle. But I knuckled down from day one. Winning these awards – and securing a role at Ridge – has been life-changing. I’m the first in my family to go to university, and I’ve never won anything before, so I’m made up!”
Andy’s story is a powerful reminder that it’s never too late to retrain, and that hard work pays off.
Learner of the Year – Level 3 Civil Engineering Apprenticeship – Solihull College
Deacon, Apprentice Civil and Structural Engineer, was recognised for his outstanding performance in the final year of his Level 3 course, which included some of the most challenging subjects in construction: Further Maths for Construction, Principles and Applications of Structural Mechanics, Project Management and Cost and Construction Design Exam.
“The final year was tough, but receiving the award made it all worth it. It’s great to be acknowledged for the effort that went into it.”
Deacon’s achievement highlights the importance of perseverance and academic excellence in the early stages of a construction career.
These stories reflect our ongoing commitment to nurturing future talent. Whether through award sponsorships, mentorship, or hands-on opportunities, we’re proud to support the next generation of professionals who will shape the built environment.
Congratulations again to Olivia, Andy, and Deacon on their well-earned recognition.
