Multidisciplinary property and construction consultancy, Ridge and Partners LLP (Ridge), is providing project management services on the £1.9bn Smithfield development in Birmingham City Centre.

The scheme, which is spearheaded by Lendlease in a joint venture with Birmingham City Council, is set to transform the city centre. Plans submitted to the council unveiled a mixed-use development that will create new cultural and leisure attractions, more than one million square metres of office space, and thousands of new homes.

Plans for the scheme also include public squares, landscaped parks, active play areas, and an events space, known as Festival Square, that will host large-scale cultural events. The transformation is estimated to create 8,000 new jobs.

Recently, Ridge announced that it had relocated its Birmingham office and doubled its capacity following a period of growth and to support a booming pipeline of work into 2023 and beyond.
