Ridge has been appointed by the National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN) to provide Construction Design and Management (CDM) consultancy services for the ongoing project to conserve HMS Victory at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.

Over the next 10-12 years, the NMRN is leading a project to conserve the 260-year-old HMS Victory to ensure the long-term preservation of a world-class historic vessel and an exemplar of a Royal Navy capital warship from the Age of Sail. 

It is an honour and a privilege, having served in the Royal Navy, to have the opportunity to assist the conservation of the world-famous HMS Victory, which is an exceptionally beautiful icon of British naval tradition. With former members of the Royal Navy and wider armed forces in our business, Ridge is delighted to have the chance to contribute to this vital heritage project.

In addition to being a unique historic asset, HMS Victory continues to be a significant visitor attraction within the setting of No. 2 Dock and Portsmouth Historic Dockyard while still serving as a commissioned warship and the Flagship of the Royal Navy’s First Sea Lord. 

The aim of HMS Victory: The Big Repair Project is to deliver a fully conserved ship, able to survive in an open environment for the next 50 years without major work beyond a programme of planned maintenance. This conservation project began in early 2022. 

Ridge has been appointed to act as specialist Health & Safety Advisor, ensuring NMRN complies with all current and emerging statutory and regulatory requirements in its capacity as Principal Designer and Principal Contractor.
