THE ASPIRATION
Strengthening insight to improve housing stock
With over 12,500 homes across the city, Derby Homes needed accurate, up-to-date data to inform future investment. The aim: survey 50% of the portfolio – around 6,200 properties – to assess condition, compliance and safety. As a community-focused housing provider, delivery had to be high quality, low disruption and resident-friendly.
OUR RESPONSE
Managing data, engagement and delivery at scale
We were appointed via the Places for People Procurement Hub to deliver Property Consultancy services, including stock condition surveys and Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) assessments.
Our team oversaw the programme end-to-end, placing a strong focus on resident experience. We built a bespoke dashboard to give Derby Homes live visibility of progress, access rates and Category 1 hazards, helping them take action fast. In a sensitive veteran housing village, we assigned a dedicated surveyor to build trust and support residents throughout the process.
THE RESULT
Portfolio-wide insight, delivered with care
We successfully surveyed 6,200 properties, with no formal complaints and 44 Category 1 hazards identified. Thanks to its success, we were appointed to complete the remaining 6,300 properties – giving Derby Homes full, up-to-date data on its entire 12,500-home portfolio. The custom dashboard continues to support operational decision-making and long-term investment planning – providing Derby Homes with a robust evidence base to maintain safe, high-quality housing across the city.
