THE ASPIRATION
Turning vision into reality for a vital transport link
The Trafford Park Line extension was a vital addition to Manchester’s Metrolink network, designed to boost regeneration and economic growth by improving public transport access to key employment, business, retail and leisure destinations. Spanning 5.5 km with six new stops, the line aimed to provide a sustainable alternative to car travel while integrating smoothly with existing services. Turning this vision into a fully operational service required careful planning, coordination and operational readiness across multiple stakeholders.
OUR RESPONSE
Seamless Project Management
We played a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth transition of the Trafford Park Line from construction to live service under Keolis Amey Metrolink (KAM). Our Project Management team worked closely with KAM at all levels, from the Board of Directors to technical teams and supply chain partners, guiding the transformation.
A key deliverable was the development of an Operational Readiness Plan, preparing every department within KAM for the new line’s launch. We led multiple workstreams – covering resources, training, equipment, health and safety, and IT – ensuring all elements were in place for a seamless rollout. We used a workshop-driven approach to align strategic goals with operational needs, ensuring successful integration into the wider Metrolink network.

Our planning and coordination ensured a smooth launch of the Trafford Park Line. The extension connects Trafford Park’s employment and leisure hubs to Manchester’s transport network, improving accessibility and supporting economic growth. All operational, technical and compliance requirements were met.
