The Edward Elgar Building, the university’s primary administrative and teaching facility within St John’s Campus, required a full renovation of its heating, water and electrical distribution networks, which hadn’t been updated since it first opened. The work was essential to maintain current use and allow for proposed future expansion and adaption of the University’s facilities.
The £2.5 million project went through detailed strategic planning stages to ensure all the client’s requirements were captured. The heating, water and electrical networks had to remain fully operational throughout the project, so all works carried out were adapted to ensure that disruption was minimal.
Ridge has supported the University in achieving its sustainability goals, providing a design solution that incorporates a boiler plant and building management system control solution resulting in an overall reduction of gas consumption of 25%.
