A new sustainable store for House of Fraser located within 200 acres of SSSI wetland in Northamptonshire. The 64,000ft2 out-of-town development offers a green retail space, certified to BREEAM sustainable building standard Very Good.

Ridge was commissioned to carry-out specialist M&E cost management and procurement services from initial scheme design through to completion. This comprised detailed cost planning and procurement of materials and specialist services, as well as value management (including option studies for low-energy lighting) to deliver energy efficient solutions.

The project comprised environmentally friendly design including:

• Energy efficient high CRI LED lighting delivering a minimum 70 lumens/circuit at less than 10w/m²
• Displacement and heat recovery ventilation systems
• Building energy management system (BEMS) providing fully automatic control and optimisation of HVAC and lighting systems with presence and daylight sensing
• 8m high living wall within the main atrium escalator hall
